A photo tour of the Studio 60 DVD

My Studio 60 DVD set has finally arrived, oh joy! And as I did with my Brothers & Sisters set on that blog, I’m going to put up a bunch of photos here for those who have not yet had the pleasure of unboxing the thing. Apologies in advance for the fact that both my camera and my photography skills are sub-par.
The photo above shows the back of the box and the three cases it contains. The packaging is pretty simple: The box is thin cardboard, open on one side and tucked in as a flap on the other. Each thin plastic case holds two discs. The contents of odd-numbered discs are outlined on the front of each case, even-numbered on the back. Information includes title of episode, writer, director, original airdate, and a brief description. Discs One-Five have four episodes each. The sixth disc has two episodes plus a special feature, “In Depth: The Evolution of Studio 60.” The only other extra is a commentary on the pilot episode, on Disc One.
Below are the fronts and the backs of the cases:

The inside of each case has the same really cute cast photo, my favorite, I think, of all the ones I’ve seen. Here it is with the discs popped out:

If you tip the box to the right, this is how the discs spill out. The spine of each case reads, “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip The Complete Series” and which discs are within. The cases are of transparent plastic and pull open fairly easy, no tabs to flip or anything.
Here’s a look at the outside and inside of each case, and what’s on the discs:

Disc One includes “Pilot,” “The Cold Open,” “The Focus Group,” and “The West Coast Delay.” Photos on the front of the case (at right above, top to bottom) are of Matt and Danny talking to Cal; the Gilbert and Sullivan parody; Tom and Cal talking; and Danny on the phone with Martha O’Dell in the background.
Disc Two includes “The Long Lead Story,” “The Wrap Party,” “Nevada Day Part I,” and “Nevada Day Part II.” Photos on the back of the case (at left above, top to bottom) are of Danny; Matt and Lauren Graham; and Simon and shepherd Tom in Pahrump.

Disc Three includes “The Option Period,” “B-12,” “The Christmas Show,” and “Monday.” Photos on the front of the case (at right above, top to bottom) are of Jordan; Martha and Danny; Tom and Santa; and Dylan.
Disc Four includes “The Harriet Dinner Part I,” “The Harriet Dinner Part II,” “The Friday Night Slaughter,” and “4 A.M. Miracle.” Photos on the back of the case (at left above, top to bottom) are of Harriet and Masi Oka; Matt; and Danny, the fake baby, and Cal.

Disc Five includes “The Disaster Show,” “Breaking News,” “K&R Part I,” and “K&R Part II.” Photos on the front of the case (at right above, top to bottom) are of Jack; Simon and Harriet doing the news; Andy, Matt and Darius in the writer’s room; and Matt and the blonde lawyer lady.
Disc Six includes “K&R Part III” and “What Kind of Day Has It Been,” plus “In Depth: The Evolution of Studio 60.” There’s just the one cast photo on the back of the case (at left above).

And now, back to the box. The front of the box (above left) has the logo at the top, a very familiar cast picture in the middle, and “The Complete Series” below. The back of the box (above right) has, at the top, a nice quote from the San Francisco Chronicle: “Exceptionally well-written, funny, serious and spot-on. Great performances abound.” Below that is a narrow cast photo, and below that the usual marketing blather about the show. The two special features are listed in the orange box with a round Studio 60 logo at left, then the credits and fine print.
And that’s the complete set! Have you received yours yet? Add your notes in the comments.
