Real estate of the stars

by
Steven Weber

I’m a sucker for those “House Hunter” shows on HGTV. Even though I’m not in the market for a change of house, and with any luck won’t be for a very long time, it’s still fun to see inside properties and imagine what it might be like to live in them. Maybe that’s why some Google Alerts about Steven Weber flipping a house in Malibu caught my eye.

The actor, who played Jack on Studio 60, bought the not-quite-beachfront property in April 2006 for $2,849,000 and sold it a few months ago for about a million dollars more, according to the blog Big Time Listings. Another blog, The Real Estalker, has some photos of the house and a detailed description. Nice place, though I join with some of the commenters in disliking the red kitchen cabinets.

The glossy white walls all over the rest of the house sure looks pretty, but all I can think of is how quickly my kids would cover them in smudgy fingerprints.

About Watching Studio60

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip was a show about making a show -- a Friday night sketch comedy living and dying by the ratings and the buzz and the bottom line. It also turned out to be about the ways that overinflated expectations and caustic criticism can doom a TV drama. Still, if you're a fan of great acting and Aaron Sorkin's way with dialog, there's a lot to love in Studio 60's sole season. Read here to look back at the show, and look forward at what the cast and creative powers are doing now.
