Second look at Episode 12: “Monday”
I watched the episode “Monday” again last night, and boy, did I want to give Jordan a hug. Embattled by someone she loves and someone she loathes, our poor network president couldn’t do much but eat and look hangdog. And as much as I wanted to hug Jordan, I wanted to drop-kick that new Vice President of Illiterate Alternative Programming (played by Stephanie Childers, left). Maybe they can dream up some reality show at the North Pole and send her to oversee it personally. She’s badly in need of a smackdown. Maybe that’s what Danny needs to do to prove his love — slay a dragon!
It made me sad when Jordan actually apologized to the snake. And sad, too, when she couldn’t even get Danny to do what she asked, although I totally would not have wanted him to abandon his quest. It was nice to see Harriet and Jordan having a bit of friendship, though it was their conversation that led to the apology. Jordan seems to have lost her will to banter sharply, and be smarter than everyone in the room. She needs to get it back. Or at least, to use some of that chow she’s got all over the place to launch a food fight. See how smug that Hallie is when she’s wearing a bowl of oatmeal.
Also deserving of a hug this episode was Jack, if only for his “Because you’re a moron!” line. It’s one thing to lose your cool with your network president, another to do it with the parent company’s board of directors. Wilson was awfully cool for backing him up. They’ve got kind of a nice relationship, those two, and Jack’s way more fun when he’s fighting injustice, whether in a boardroom or a Nevada judge’s office, than when he’s picking at Jordan’s work choices.
I really like the onset of Tom and Lucy’s relationship, and kinda hate that it’s going to take a turn from straightforwardness into stupid lying as Tom gets caught up in Jack’s plot to change Kim’s career choice and get her father’s help in his and Wilson’s plan. For now, though, for this episode, they were pretty adorable.
Matt bidding on Harriet — well, it’s funny, but knowing how it turns out over the next couple of episodes, not so much. Really, let somebody else win her, Matt. You can always grab her and kiss her in the hallway again. Or, you know, have somebody famous send a fax.
Come back later this week for a recap, memorable lines, and five questions about “Monday.”
